Public only hear allegations: RaGa, PM invited to public debate
A massive fire broke out at a shopping complex in Kanpur's Bansmandi ready-made garment market and engulfed nearby businesses in the early hours of Friday, with initial reports suggesting a short circuit was the cause.
About 18 fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames, in which hundreds of shops were reportedly gutted.
The fire broke out at around 2am at the AR complex and spread rapidly as the building was being stocked with clothes ahead of Eid. The flames were so huge that they also affected the nearby markets.
The dousing efforts have been going on for the past six, and it would take three to four hours to douse the fire completely, said the Kanpur Joint Commissioner.
